How low has Hillary Clinton set the bar for her husband’s behavior?
Consider this: she’s now giving him credit for not using a social media service while he was in the White House that didn’t exist until more than five years after he left office.
According to The Daily Caller, Hillary’s remarks came at a Clinton Foundation event, an event one imagines is somewhat less glitzy than it was back in the days before she was so tragically robbed of the White House by the Russians, Paul Manafort, misogyny, the media and Judge Crater.
The event was to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Bill Clinton’s 1992 electoral victory over George H.W. Bush. Not being one for humility, of course, the former first lady was willing to give her husband credit for anything and everything. Including not using Twitter a decade before it was invented.
Talking about the Northern Irish peace process back in the mid-1990s, Hillary took a swing-and-a-miss at Donald Trump: “(Former President Clinton) didn’t tweet about it, he got to work about it and he actually got it done,” Hillary told the audience.
Oh, burn. Burn.
Before I get onto the arrant absurdity of the digital aspect of this, let me point out that — while this was at an event meant to lionize Mr. Clinton as his party begins to turn its weapons on him — one might have had the good graces to say that it was actually the British, Irish, and various factions in Northern Ireland that “got it done.”
Alas, Hillary’s sense of humility and context is right up there with her sense of time and/or technological advancement. Just for kicks, let’s check out the date on the first tweet ever sent:

During his last day in office, on Jan. 20, 2001, Bill Clinton was more than five years away from being able to tweet, “Just pardoned BFF Marc Rich. Totes innocent. Donations nothing 2 do w/it.”
Back during the months and years leading up to the Good Friday Agreement, the only “social media” available was Geocities. And rest assured, if it got him votes and support, he would be updating his page at http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/3122 at least five times a day via dialup with the latest pro-Clinton news and/or animated GIFs of women in bikinis.
And, in fact, he’s an enthusiastic user of the Twitterverse nowadays. Why, take a look at him advertising the event at which his wife seemed to equate Twitter use with unfitness for office:
I’m sure Gennifer Flowers’ invite got lost in the mail.
This all raises the question: Did nobody edit this speech? Did she not realize how dumb this would sound? Instead of #imstillwithher, perhaps, #imstillwithsenile might be the more apropos hashtag.

And if we want to talk about inappropriate usage of technology while one’s administration occupies the hallowed halls of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., how about a report from WND back in 2000, which noted that “(a) consultant hired last year to beef up security for the White House’s computer network found massive pornographic video files passing through the system’s Internet firewall” and that “(s)ome of the downloaded files were traced back to West Wing officials as recently as the beginning of (1999), during the height of the impeachment crisis”?
While former President Clinton was, somewhat counter-intuitively, a vociferous opponent of unfettered internet pornography — going so far as to propose that an “E-chip” similar to the wholly-worthless “V-chip” television filtering device he championed be installed on computers — one assumes that had something to do with the fact that the goings-on in the Oval Office were, um, far more interesting to him.
Well, hey. As Democrats begin to turn on Clinton — with one of the Clintons’ closest allies in Washington, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, saying that Bill ought to have resigned after the Lewinsky scandal — others will doubtlessly follow in expediently disowning the former cad-in-chief.
But I’m sure liberals will spin this faster than a gyroscope. Yes, he may have been a serial adulterer who stands accused of a not-insubstantial number of sexual assaults. But even though his vice president invented the internet, he refused to use Twitter a decade before it started. America needs to know before the vast right-wing conspiracy obfuscates this very pertinent fact.
Please like and share on Facebook and especially Twitter if you’re glad Bill Clinton didn’t use any social media — especially Tinder — during his stay in the White House.
