Barack Obama hates Donald Trump with a passion these days, but he felt very differently about him back in the 1990s.
The Daily Caller reported that an essay written by Obama in 1991 just resurfaced, and it features him saying that the American dream is to be Donald Trump. While a student at Harvard Law School, Obama wrote an essay titled “Race and Rights Rhetoric” in which he described the American mindset as “a continuing normative commitment to the ideals of individual freedom and mobility, values that extend far beyond the issue of race in the American mind.”
“The depth of this commitment may be summarily dismissed as the unfounded optimism of the average American—I may not be Donald Trump now, but just you wait; if I don’t make it, my children will,” Obama wrote.
Obama went on to argue that black Americans should “shift away from rights rhetoric and towards the language of opportunity.”
Given how Obama feels about Trump now, he DEFINITELY did not want this paper to resurface! SHARE this story so we can SPREAD THIS!
