While in China, President Donald Trump spoke with the Chinese president and secured the release of three Americans who had been arrested for shoplifting.
While the Americans — all of whom were UCLA basketball players — were grateful to be free, LaVar Ball, the father of one of the players, seemingly dismissed the president’s role in the situation, Breitbart reported.
Trump then lashed out at Ball on Twitter, once again causing a debate between people who thought Trump was just being petty, and those who thought he had a valid point.
On Monday, Fox Sports 1’s “Undisputed” host Shannon Sharpe sided with Trump, stating that he thought Ball was clearly in the wrong here, and that many people would agree that Trump had a big part to play in getting the players released.
“Even though I don’t agree with everything President Trump has said or done, and you might disagree with what he has or what he hasn’t done yourself, but to say he played no role in this would be disingenuous,” Sharpe stated.
You can watch the full exchange below. His comments occur throughout the video.
While Trump’s decision to go on Twitter and say he should have left the players in China might not have been his best move, there is no question he was instrumental in getting the players released.
Anyone who fails to recognize that is just completely blinded by their hatred of Trump.
“That was the dumbest thing he ever could have said,” Sharpe said of Ball comment’s about Trump.
“I can assure you that President Trump mentioning (it) to the Chinese president didn’t hurt his situation,” he continued.
Sharpe also point out that Ball’s “kleptomaniac son” was the one who got himself into this situation in the first place by stealing.
“If your son would have kept his sticky a** fingers in his pockets and not take people’s stuff in China, we wouldn’t even be having this conversation. So, you talk about ‘who?’ — your kleptomaniac son is who!” he exclaimed.
Sharpe certainly did give a full-throated defense of Trump in that segment.
“I don’t think it should be debated,” Sharpe said of Trump’s role in the entire situation.
There comes a point when pretending like Trump hasn’t ever done anything good is just ridiculous, and shows how utterly biased some people are.
It wasn’t a coincidence that Trump went to China, and then almost immediately upon leaving, the three players were released. Trump did that.
